President Pavel emphasized the necessity of clarifying Europe’s values, stating that it is essential for citizens to truly connect with the principles that underpin our society. As he discussed the upcoming European election campaign next year, he cautioned against resorting to “simplistic solutions and empty promises,” advocating instead for a candid discussion of issues “as they truly are.”

Petr Pavel also warned that the failure of Ukraine would have dire consequences for Europe, asserting the need for “everyone to continue providing support by all possible means.” He reflected on the historical context of Czechoslovakia’s concessions to Hitler, which were made in hopes of avoiding conflict, and he strongly opposed the idea of making similar concessions to Putin. Pavel called for a resolution that ensures the essential conditions for Ukraine’s enduring peace and prosperity.

Advocating for the expansion of the European Union, he remarked, “It is in our interest that candidate countries achieve success. Their achievements will translate into our own success.” Regarding the Fit for 55 initiative, he highlighted the importance of alleviating the concerns of citizens, particularly the younger generation, and ensuring that the transitions toward greener and digital economies benefit all segments of the population.

“Europe is a continuous endeavor, and the nations of Europe are meant to coexist,” the President asserted, urging Members of the European Parliament to resist fatigue from ongoing conflicts. He called for unity and solidarity in upholding European values and principles, warning against succumbing to populism and misleading promises.
