EU increases exports of soft wheat and barley, reduces imports of corn

In the 2025-2026 agricultural season, which ended on June 30, the European Union increased exports of soft wheat by 8% compared to the previous season to 23.42 million tonnes, according to data from the European Commission. Barley saw a jump of nearly 73% in exports on an annual basis to 8.98 million tonnes.

At the same time, imports of corn into the EU decreased by over 6.5% compared to the 2024-2025 season to 18.47 million tonnes.

The EC does not fail to remind that the data on the export of wheat and barley from the EU and the import of corn into the community remain incomplete, as for Bulgaria and Ireland this has been a fact since the beginning of the 2023-2024 season, for France – since the beginning of the calendar year 2024, and for Greece – since January 2026.
