The country is in the top 10 in agricultural production in the world, the World Food Program has approached Ankara with the request.
Turkey is striving to become a “strategic warehouse center” for food products of regional and global importance, announced Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakli, quoted by the Anadolu Agency.
“Recently, the World Food Program (WFP) approached us with a request to turn Turkey into a “strategic warehouse center” for food products of regional and global importance,” Yumakli said.
“With the help of President Erdogan, we hope that our country will become a strategic warehouse center, and work is already underway to establish an institution to deal with this process,” the agriculture minister said.
He emphasized the country’s strategic location, which gives it an advantage in delivering food to those in need.
“We have increased our agricultural production from $30 billion to $75 billion, with a large part of this increase due to the growth in our exports,” Yumakli added. He cited 2023 data, according to which Turkey ranks first in agricultural production in Europe and among the top ten countries in the world.
