Hon’ble CM Shri N. Rangaswamy flagging off the Janjagran Cycle Yatra by Shri Sandesh Meshram from the premises of Puducherry Legislative Assembly

Puducherry: The Janjagran Cycle Yatra (South India) initiated by Shri Sandesh Meshram aka Samten Yeshi has reached the Union Territory of Puducherry on 2nd January 2022 where he was warmly received by  India Tibet Friendship Society (ITFS) Puducherry President Shri S. Adhavan, Joint Secretary Shri I. Pandian and other members.

Shri Sandesh Meshram  Mundgod kicked off the cycle rally from Karnataka on 10th December 2021. Throughout his cycle journey, he covered many villages, towns and cities of Uttara Kannada, Kerala and southern part of Tamil Nadu before reaching Puducherry.

On 4th January 2022, a welcome reception in honour of Shri Sandesh Meshram was organized by ITFS Puducherry which was held at the premises of Puducherry Legislative Assembly. The program was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Puducherry Shri N. Rangaswamy, Hon’ble Speaker of Puducherry Legslative Assembly Shri R. Selvam and Hon’ble MP Rajya Sabha, Puducherry Shri S. Selvaganapathy.

Shri Venkata Subramaniam, Member, ITFS Puducherry gave the welcome address and Shri S. Adhavan, President, ITFS Puducherry presided the program. Hon’ble Speaker Shri R. Selvam felicitated Shri Sandesh Meshram for his work for the Tibetan cause. Pamphlets on Tibet were presented to the dignitaries and also distributed to other members attending the program.

Hon’ble Chief Minister N. Rangaswamy flagged off the Janjagran Cycle Yatra by Shri Sandesh Meshram for his onward journey offering his best wishes for the Tibetan cause. Shri I. Pandian, Joint Secretary, ITFS Puducherry presented the vote of thanks to all.

Apart from the dignitaries, the program was attended by ITFS Puducherry Members; Kalsang, Sonam and others from Auroville Tibet Pavilion and media friends from both print and electronics.

Shri Sandesh Meshram was hosted by Acha Kalsang of Auroville Tibet Pavilion during his stay in Puducherry. He was toured around Auroville during which he was glad to met Mr. Claude Arpi, renown Tibetologist and author.

The Janjagran Cycle Yatra (South India)’s main purpose is to create awareness among the general Indian masses about Tibet and its hard realities prevailing under the brutal occupation of Tibet by the Chinese Communist Government. The rally would also engage in re-strengthening of centuries old relations between India and Tibet and educate the masses that India shares border with Tibet, not with CHINA.

The cycle yatra is scheduled to conclude at Bengaluru, Karnataka on 12th January, 2022.
