In September, the first consecrated train in Russia and Moscow was launched in the Moscow metro, created for the 800th anniversary of the birth of Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky. The launch of the train on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line took place with the support of the Fund for Humanitarian Projects and the Moscow Metro.
From the date of the grand launch, in two months, up to 50 million people could have traveled on the historic train, according to the official statistics of the line’s congestion. The thematic composition will continue to run on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya metro line until March 2022.
The carriages are decorated inside in two styles – “summer” and “winter”, which reflect the key historical feats accomplished by Alexander Nevsky, a holy prince and an experienced diplomat.
In one of the “summer” cars – everything about the border battle, which turned into a great victory, – about the Battle of the Neva, after which Prince Alexander Yaroslavich was nicknamed Nevsky. In the “winter” cars, passengers will learn about the confrontation between Russia and the West in the 13th century and how the memory of the prince’s victories inspired the soldiers of the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War. The car “Battle on the Ice” is made in winter colors, since its main theme was the battle on the ice of Lake Peipsi on April 5, 1242.
In addition, historical festivals were held throughout the country as part of the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the birth of Saint Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, one of which took place in September in Moscow at VDNKh in the historical park “Russia – My History”. The festival was organized by the Foundation for New Forms of Education Development. Over two days, more than 10 million Muscovites and guests of the capital took part in the festival, who came to get to know the exploits of the great commander.
In the 57th pavilion of VDNKh, where the Moscow Historical Park is located, they recreated the atmosphere of the Middle Ages: reenactors held demonstration battles, guests were taught to shoot from a bow, guided tours of a unique comic book exhibition were held, which narrated in a modern way about the events that glorified Alexander Nevsky, who played a huge role in the history of our Fatherland.
“In 2021, we honor the memory of Alexander Nevsky, and it is important for us to tell as many people as possible about his exploits, and especially to our children. Therefore, throughout the year we hold promotions, exhibitions and events dedicated to the life of the Grand Duke. Undoubtedly, the most ambitious of them was the launch of the first consecrated train in the Moscow metro – now every day almost a million people on the road can touch history, read the prince’s biography prepared by our scientists, and look at illustrations that have been drawn over the years – for example, a huge central canvas with a total area 60 square meters artist Evgeny Emelyanov painted for 10 years! In the cities of Russia, including in the regions where the project “Russia – My History” is present, all year round, actions and festivals dedicated to the life of the Grand Duke were held, exhibitions and excursions were held to pay tribute to the courage and courage of Alexander Nevsky.
