Placing outdoor lights in Florida is prohibited until Thanksgiving
Who would have thought that the joy of the approaching Christmas and the desire to spread a little festive mood could be punishable? Well, it turns out that not everyone is in the mood for the winter holidays in the Sunny State.
Michael Mofa, who lives in Florida, received a $ 1,000 fine from the Homeowners Association for decorating his house too early for Christmas.
According to the letter, the man violated the regulations of the association by installing Christmas lights, which is not allowed until Thanksgiving – this is the last Thursday in November.
“In view of the holidays and the pandemic, the children wanted a little light in their daily lives,” he explained.
Mofa even hired a company because he couldn’t get on the roof of his house in Westchase, but it was all in vain. Now he adds another $ 100 fine each day if the lights are not removed.
“Just before Christmas, Merry Christmas,” he said bitterly.
“I mean, someone has to be like the Grinch to do that!”
Mofa offered to turn off the lights until Thanksgiving to resolve the dispute and not pay the fine, but the association did not agree.
