In China, you spit six times and a little and they throw you out on the street.
Chinese citizens living in government-sponsored housing in the prosperous southern province of Guangdong can be evicted from their homes if they spit in public.
This provides for a new plan of local authorities to manage municipal housing – to throw out on the street anyone with indecent behavior
Throwing rubbish in unregulated places, making too much noise and gambling are also on the list of more than 20 “atrocities” that could lead to eviction from temporary housing.
The measures are imposed on a point system. Spitting in a public place carries a penalty of three points, pollution – five, throwing things from the upper floors – seven, and failure to pay rent for three consecutive months carries a maximum penalty of 20 points.
People in municipal housing will be forced to move out if they collect a total of 20 penalty points.
Spitting in public is a common occurrence in China, despite government campaigns to eliminate it as a health threat.
Authorities say they have learned from Hong Kong’s experience in managing municipal housing.
