A UN opinion on the case is expected.

Two Bulgarian military cemeteries in RN Macedonia from the First World War, near the town of Kavadarci, were destroyed.

“Locals called to say that during the construction of the highway that passes by the town of Kavadarci and the two military cemeteries, which are at a distance of 1 km from each other, were destroyed,” Viktor Stoyanov, chairman of the Macedonia Foundation, told BTV.

“Of the two military cemeteries, only stone monuments remain, on which it is written that these are military cemeteries of the Bulgarian army,” Stoyanov added.

He reminded that these two military cemeteries are officially registered in the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Bulgaria and are in memory of nearly 400 Bulgarian soldiers who died during the First World War for the freedom of the Bulgarians in Macedonia.

“The bones of our ancestors were destroyed and scattered. Young soldiers are buried there, “Stoyanov noted.

The case was reported to our Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Defense, as well as our embassy in Skopje.

“We expect the UN to investigate and establish whether the Geneva Convention has been violated by the signatory. This is entirely the responsibility of RN Macedonia, “said Viktor Stoyanov.

According to him, the sanctions provided for under the Geneva Convention are individual – they are monetary, and more serious violations can lead to the Hague Tribunal, and in general the country may lose its membership in the UN.
