Angelina Jolie wants to give children the strength to “fight back” and fight for their rights with a book she wrote with Amnesty International.
The book “Know Your Rights and Defend Them” was co-written with human rights lawyer Geraldine van Buren, one of the authors of the 1989 UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Its purpose is to give knowledge to adolescents so that they can safely face injustices, writes BTA.
Angelina Jolie is a goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
She said she hoped the book would also remind governments of their commitment to the convention, which aims to ensure children’s civil, social and economic rights. The actress hopes with her children to learn what their rights are.
