The use and production of electric bicycles has been declining since the beginning of the pandemic. And Bulgaria and Poland are the driving force behind this boom. In fact, this segment is one of the few, which is not a problem, but it is also more active over the past year, this year.
According to the new report of the Confederation of the European Cycling Industry (CONEVI), the sale of the 40th edition of the European Union in Europe. Also, such vehicles were sold for a total value of 18.3 billion dollars.
Erhard Bühel, who is the president of CONEVI, says that this was the best year since the organization collected data for the market. “Investments and innovations will reach 1.5 billion euros at the level of 1 billion euros in 2019. “This has led to an unprecedented experience in Europe,” he said.
The boom in the production of electric cars has already been a great benefit for Bulgaria and Poland, which for years has been the leader in production.
According to the calculations of the European Union from July 2021, Poland has become the fourth largest manufacturer of bicycles in the EC with 1 million units for 2020. For the same period, Bulgaria is fifth in the union with 484,000 units, and our country outperforms France with the production of a total of 430,000 bicycles.
The hunting manufacturer of bicycles Maxcom will build a factory in partnership with the Austrian giant Rierer Group. The company becomes a leading manufacturer of electric bicycles in the EU.
One of the leading manufacturers in Bulgaria – Plovdiv-based Maxcom, for example, has announced that it will build a new plant near the city with an investment of 40 million people.
The company’s goal is to reach more than 3 million electric bicycles worth over 10 billion levs in the next 10 years.
Last year, it became clear that another manufacturer of bicycles – “Lider-96”, will also build a new base for Plovdiv (Bulgaria) with an investment.
