The night of “Berat” is is mübarek, a blessed night that falls on the 15th night of Shaban, which is the 8th month of the Muslim calendar (Monday evening, February 2, 2026 – Tuesday, February 3, 2026).
Berat Kandili is one of the five holy nights on the Muslim calendar called kandil, meaning candle.
About this night, Allah the Almighty says in the Quran:
“I swear by the clear Book.
We have sent it down on a blessed night. We warn.”
(Surah Ad-Dukhan: 2,3)
On this night, the Holy Quran was revealed (in its entirety) and at the same time it is a harbinger of the month of fasting – Ramadan. The name of the night means purification and forgiveness of sins.

When the fifteenth night of the month of Sha’ban comes, get up and spend the night in worship (worship). The next day, observe the fast, because on that night from sunset until sunrise (in the morning), Allah the Almighty bestows upon the heavens many blessings and commands the following:
– Is there no one who asks for forgiveness so that I may forgive him?
– Is there no one who asks for sustenance so that I may give him?
– Is there no one who is accustomed (to something bad) so that I may save (purify) him.
(Ibn Majah)

– Is there no one who asks for forgiveness so that I may forgive him?
– Is there no one who asks for sustenance so that I may give him?
– Are there no (sick) ones who ask for healing so that I may cure them.
“On the fifteenth night of the month of Sha’ban (the night of Barat), Allah the Almighty, out of His mercy, forgives all of His servants, except those who associate partners with Him and those who are disobedient to their parents.”

The meaning and virtues of Berat Kandili according to Islamic scholars:
1. Allah Almighty, in the middle of the month of Shaban, examines the situation of His servants and forgives all their sins, except for the hypocritical and malicious among them.”
1-On this night, Allah (swt) grants the believers forgiveness and grace. This night is the night of forgiveness and grace.
2- The acts of worship performed on this night are of great value.
3-On this night, many things are predetermined, and the angels are informed about the death and livelihood of people.
4 On this night, the right of intercession was granted to the Prophet (s.a.w.s). The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) requested the right of intercession for the Muslim community on the nights of the thirteenth and fourteenth, and on the fifteenth night (i.e. the night of Barat) he was granted the right of intercession.
5- It is reported in the Quran that this night is sacred.
***
Allah the Almighty has announced that on the night of Barat He will forgive those who sincerely repent for their sins and ask for forgiveness from Him. It is suggested that those who IF DO NOT REPENT, they will not be able to benefit from the forgiveness and grace of Allah. And they are:
1-Those who associate partners with Allah.
2-Those who oppose their parents, quarrel with them and insult them.
3-Those who continue to drink alcohol.
4-Those who use fortune-telling to predict the future.
5-Those who live off their brothers in religion, but feel hatred for them.
6-Who has killed a person, but still does not repent.
7-Those who live together without having a nikah.
8-Those who neglect their relatives, and do not maintain contact with them.
Undoubtedly, on this night, sinners must repent with sincere feelings and deep regret. This is a great night in which Allah the Almighty gives all His servants the opportunity to repent for their sins, so that He may forgive them, and we are obliged to do so if we do not want to be among those who are the inhabitants of Hell.
