From January 1, 2022, illegal labor migrants will begin to be expelled from Russia, and not only fined. This was reported by the “Ministry of Internal Affairs Media”.

At the same time, employers who will employ illegal migrants will face a fine of up to 800 thousand rubles for each migrant. The Ministry of Internal Affairs recommended that foreign citizens who do not have documents for work in Russia should contact the internal affairs bodies in advance.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that more than seven million migrants have received work permits in Russia since 2020.

President Putin gave labor migrants additional time to complete documents for legal work on the territory of the Russian Federation. This time expires on January 1.

Migrants who have not drawn up documents for legal work on the territory of the Russian Federation will begin to be expelled from the country today, on Saturday, January 1.

In connection with the pandemic, President Putin extended the terms of stay in the country without permits. However, on December 31, 2021, this period ended, and already from January 1, migrants who have not completed the paperwork necessary for work can be expelled from the country.

“From January 1 […] for illegal employment, in addition to fines (up to five thousand rubles), measures related to expulsion from Russia and a ban on return entry can be taken against foreigners,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also reminds that employers who attract such employees will also be punished – for each person they will face a fine of up to 800 thousand rubles.
