Break the silence on persecuted Christians

MEP Bert-Jan Ruissen held a conference and exhibition at the European Parliament to denounce the silence surrounding the suffering of persecuted Christians worldwide. The EU must take stronger action against violations of freedom of religion, especially in Africa where lives are lost due to this silence.
Local charity the Sussex Cancer Fund have been joined by guest judges, Dame Jacqueline Wilson, popular childrens’ writer, Local author, Jill Hucklesby, and Dr Ollie Minton, Director of Cancer Services, University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, to create a children’s’ book of poetry celebrating ‘Why We Love Sussex’.

Children between the ages of 6 and 16 are being invited to write and illustrate poems about why they love Sussex. The winning entries will be published in a book, which will be sold to raise funds the charity will use to continue their work

David Witham, Fund Manager said “The Sussex Cancer Fund’s work has always been about making treatment more bearable for patients, improving facilities and therapies and funding cancer research projects. All very positive actions. We wanted to create a fundraising project, that reflects this positivity, and what better way than celebrating this amazing county that we love and serve”.
