President Vladimir Putin entered the top 10 most respected men in the world. This is evidenced by data from a survey by the British Sociological Institute YouGov.
The Russian leader came in ninth place. It is noteworthy that in comparison with the previous year’s poll, Putin has climbed three lines in the ranking.
The top three have not changed compared to last year’s poll. Former US President Barack Obama is in the lead in the top, the founder of Microsoft Corporation Bill Gates is in the second position, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping closes the top three. The fourth and fifth places were taken by footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and actor Jackie Chan, respectively.
The top ten also includes Tesla founder Elon Musk, football player Lionel Messi, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Alibaba Group founder Jack Ma. The top twenty also includes billionaire Warref Buffett (11th), former US President Donald Trump (13th), Pope Francis (16th) and current US President Joe Biden (20th).
For the third year in a row, Barack Obama’s wife Michelle is in the lead in the women’s ranking. In second place was actress Angelina Jolie, in third – Queen Elizabeth II. Also in the top ten were actresses Emma Watson, Priyanka Chopra and Scarlett Johansson, TV presenter Oprah Winfrey, singer Taylor Swift, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Pakistani human rights activist Malala Yousafzai.
More than 42 thousand people from 38 countries and territories took part in the survey.
Earlier, the VKontakte social network, citing data from the social media and media analysis system Brand Analytics, reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin took first place in the list of the most popular people in 2021.
