UN Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking Announces 10 NGO Projects Selected for Comprehensive Support to Victims of Human Trafficking under Sub-Grant Programme 2 of the 5th Grant Cycle

Vienna (Austria), 2 November 2021 – The UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking (UNVTF), managed by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), has announced the results of its fifth call for proposals under sub-grant programme two of its small grants programme.

The grant programme focused on the provision of medium-term direct assistance to vulnerable victims of trafficking in persons in or fleeing from imperative crisis scenarios, including COVID-19.

In total, 10 NGO projects from 10 countries that provide emergency aid to human trafficking survivors globally have been selected for award, totaling approximately USD 0.6 million in grants.

The competition was steep, with close to 400 applications received over 60 countries worldwide.

_{This project will provide socio-economic protection services for vulnerable victims of trafficking in persons in Bangladesh through livelihood support and vocational training.}

_{This project will directly assist Vidomègon children or children in care (girls and boys) aged 5 to 17 who are victims of trafficking, economic and sexual exploitation on the Porto Novo corridor across Nigeria.}

_{This project will provide a multi-dimensional response to victims of trafficking in Cameroon including increased access to medical and psychosocial assistance and specialist care for 20 children (boys) recruited into armed groups.}

_{Thematic focus on providing quality and comprehensive direct assistance (protection services, health care, shelters, psychosocial and economic support) to women and girls at risk and / or victims of human trafficking in the prefecture of Mamou, in the Republic of Guinea.}

_{This project focuses on enhanced protection of women and girl trafficking victims from refugee and migrant communities in Lebanon through support services including family reunification and repatriation exacerbated by the Beirut Port explosion and COVID-19.}

_{This project will focus on the provision of psychosocial assistance for female victims of trafficking in the Republic of Macedonia, responding to immediate needs of the victims through social assistance services for their recovery.}

_{This project will address the immediate and long-term needs of unaccompanied minor (boys and girls) as well as vulnerable women with children from El Chaparral migrant camp in the border region between San Diego and Tijuana at the San Ysidro port of entry.}

_{The Freedom Home project will provide direct assistance and protection to vulnerable female survivors and victims of human trafficking and reduce survivor’s vulnerability to re-trafficking.}

_{This project will target 120 women and teenage mother victims of armed cattle rustling and trafficking by the Jie Karimojong pastoralist armed warriors of northeastern Uganda who terrorise the Abim farmer communities, rustle their animals, loot property and kill them with impunity.}

_{Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation}

_{Viet Nam}

_{The aim of this project is to provide safe repatriation services and exceptional emergency care for Vietnamese migrant women and underage girls who were trafficked within Vietnam for sexual exploitation and forced marriage, in an attempt to escape extreme, COVID-related poverty in their communities.}

With renewed commitment to the replenishment of the Fund based on this growing demand in 2021, the Trust Fund can make a greater impact and reach even more victims in need of urgent support.
