Village conducted an investigation into systematic and prolonged sexual violence at the Moscow Central Art School (formerly the Moscow Art Lyceum) at the Russian Academy of Arts. The journalists published excerpts from the letters of the graduates of the school, which abound in indicative details of what happened. In them, the girls say that in different years, even as minors, they became victims of sexual harassment by their former drawing teacher Viktor Elizarov.
This summer, former students sent their letters to the police. The media learned about the incident only now. The girls, who attended school in different years, share similar stories: they say they were regularly publicly subjected to physical harassment and psychological abuse by Elizarov, who called himself a “pedophile teacher.” They also said Elizarov had sex with underage students.
He insulted young people in public in the presence of other students, touched them on their intimate and other parts of the body.
The girls claim that the teacher’s colleagues knew about what was happening, but kept silent – they were probably afraid of publicity and the damage to the school’s reputation. Elizarov’s wife, who also taught at the college, knew of her husband’s atrocities against the children. Other teachers pretended that nothing was happening.
A total of at least 15 Elizarov victims are known. It is possible that they were much more. Former students admitted that they did not fully realize what was happening then. Many of them needed the help of a psychotherapist afterwards.
At the same time, the Investigative Committee is in no hurry to file a case against Elizarov, constantly postponing the deadlines. In the educational institution, the teacher was fired but not fired. Nothing is known about his whereabouts.
Another famous case in recent years is the scandal with the teacher and the star of the popular show “What? Where? When ”Mikhail Skipski, as well as other members of the elite club, who were accused of harassing female students at Moscow State University.
The case at the Moscow School for Gifted Children “League of Schools”, in which teachers joked with students for two decades, also received a great response. Alumni of the school say that the teachers invited them to the bathroom under the pretext that they would take extra classes, harassed them in the educational institution and had sex with them. Following the publication of this information, the school management was forced to resign and the school itself was reorganized.
