A smuggled shipment of APCs traveling from Bulgaria to Belarus has been seized by Russian security services and customs, TASS reported, citing a source.
Eight of a total of 20 armored personnel carriers have been detained at the Russian border. The other 12 were missed, and the machines were in transit through the port of Azov in the Rostov region.
The total value of the cargo is about 5 million rubles – nearly 60 thousand euros.
According to the source of the media, during the transportation the respective company used false acts of demilitarization for use in the Russian Federation.
An investigation has been launched into the smuggling of weapons and other military equipment. In the course of operational activities, it was clarified that the smuggled armored personnel carriers were to be exported to Belarus and sold to Russia for civilian use.
