The note for “persona non grata” is a reciprocal action, the Russian side announced
Russia’s foreign ministry has declared an employee of the northern Macedonian embassy in Moscow “persona non grata” in response to similar actions against an employee of the Russian embassy in Skopje, TASS reported.
“On October 4, the acting head of the Embassy of the Republic of Northern Macedonia in the Russian Federation, Olivera Chaushevska-Dimovska, was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she was handed a note declaring a persona non grata an employee of the Embassy of Northern Macedonia in Moscow. “, said in a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“The measure in question is a response to what was taken by the northern Macedonian side in August and an unjustified decision to declare a diplomat from the Russian embassy in Skopje” persona non grata, “the statement said.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry notes that “the northern Macedonian administration continues to move along the confrontational path, ignoring the fact that such actions will damage bilateral relations.”
Last year, Skopje expelled two Russian diplomats amid a scandal involving explosions at arms depots in Vrbetice, Czech Republic.
In June, Russia declared a staff member of the Embassy of the Republic of Northern Macedonia in Moscow persona non grata.
