On the occasion of the Fifth World Day of the Poor and following the launch of the statement on poverty by the COMECE Social Affairs Commission chaired by H.E. Mgr. Antoine Hérouard, COMECE is pleased to invite you to its online webinar “Listen to the Cry of the Poor in the context of COVID-19 and its recovery” to be held on Monday 15 November 2021, from 17:00 to 18:30 (CET).

This event will bring the voices of people who suffered from poverty and of the Church to the EU institutions to reflect on how to address poverty in the context of the pandemic and the recovery.

Participants will have the opportunity to discuss key EU policies and future strategies to better support people in poverty, as well as recommendations of the Catholic Church to the EU institutions for short- and long-term actions.

Among the speakers: H.E. Msgr. Antoine Hérouard, President of the COMECE Commission on Social Affairs; H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President Emeritus of Malta; MEP Patrizia Toia (S&D, IT), Member of the European Parliament’s Intergroup on Fighting against Poverty; Lazare Association; Mr. Andrew Holohan, ATD Ireland; Ms. Shannon Pfohman, Caritas Europa; and Mr. Jiri Svarc, European Commission, EMPL.D1.
