For visitors to the film festival, its organizers carried out free tests for a new type of coronavirus infection.
Free PCR tests at the Cannes Film Festival for visitors cost the organizers more than one million dollars. Variety writes about this on Wednesday, July 21.
It is reported that tests were made for about 28 thousand guests over the two weeks of the events at the film festival.
At the same time, residents of the European Union could do without PCR tests thanks to the vaccination certificate.
“We managed to host the event. Everything went well thanks to the competent and responsible execution of the protocol, ”said Thierry Fremault, artistic director of the festival.
The festival was held from 6 to 17 July 2021 at the Palace of Festivals and Congresses. Despite all concerns, no major outbreaks have been reported outside Cannes.
Recall that in France, on the Cote d’Azur, awards were handed out for the best films of 2021. The Palme d’Or, which is the most famous award of this festival, went to the film “Titan” by Julia Ducorno.
