North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited the city of Samjiyon in the northwestern part of the country, where the largest construction of a modern city in the republic is underway. This was announced on Tuesday by the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea.

Kim Jong-un “visited the city of Samjiyon with an inspection to get personally acquainted with the course of the third, final stage of construction.”

This is the first public appearance of the head of state in more than a month, the agency notes. The DPRK leader last delivered a speech at a defense exhibition in Pyongyang on October 11.

In his speech, Kim Jong-un also spoke about the main stages in building the party in the last decade.

The leadership of the DPRK pays great attention to the progress of the largest construction project in the People’s Republic. Kim Jong-un regularly visits this region, located at the foot of the sacred Mount Pektusan.

The authorities in North Korea must make improving the living conditions of their citizens one of their priorities. The country’s leader Kim Jong-un gave this order during a speech marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Korean Workers’ Party, the AP notes. The agency quoted Pyongyang’s official agency as saying.

Kim Jong-un also noted that party officials “should always consider whether their actions harm people’s interests and cause them inconvenience.”

The head of state stressed that the party is still determined to effectively promote the five-year plan for the development of the national economy, outlined at the party congress in January, calling for a quick solution to the problems of providing citizens with food and housing.

Kim Jong Un did not mention Pyongyang’s relations with South Korea and the United States. For the first time since coming to power in late 2011, he delivered a speech marking the anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party.

On October 10, North Korea marked 76 years since the founding of the ruling party without a military parade or other demonstration of force. The newspapers published several articles on the merits of the party and Kim Jong Un for the country and the people.

In an editorial, Nodon Sinmun official called on citizens to mobilize in support of the leader, describing his efforts to solve economic problems.
