On June 17, a farewell ceremony was held in Kuşudaşı for the star of the series “Blueberry Sherbet” Ece İrtem. Despite numerous rumors and speculations, it was previously believed that a heart attack was the cause of the actress’s untimely death. However, today, an unexpected turn of events took place in the case.
The lawyer of the late Ece filed a petition with the prosecutor’s office. Ugur Gökköyun noted that the day before her death, the Turkish actress was in Thailand, where she was bitten by a monkey while on vacation. He explained that three bite marks were found on his client’s shoulder.
“After three scars were found on the left shoulder of my client, Ece Irtem, who passed away at home on June 15, 2026, during a conversation with family members, it was revealed that she was bitten by a monkey during her trip to Thailand. After consulting with experts, it became clear that a monkey bite can lead to sepsis (blood poisoning) and fatal consequences,” the star’s lawyer wrote.
Ugur Gökköyun filed a petition with the prosecutor asking that this be taken into account in further investigative actions. The official results of Ece Irtem’s autopsy have not yet been published.
While the official investigation is ongoing, a preliminary autopsy report from the Forensic Medicine Institute lists the initial cause of death as a suspected heart attack. However, officials are still probing whether a related infection, sepsis, or other underlying medical complications played a contributing role. The Turkish actress died at only 35 years old. During one of her last conversations with a close friend, the “Blueberry Sherbet” star admitted that she could not imagine herself getting old and therefore believed that she would die young. Some of Irtem’s fans considered her words prophetic.
