[Press Release] Open House Begins for the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple
Press ReleaseThis article is based on a press release or official communication. The European Times republishes it as a public service.

The open house for the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints began with a media day on June 10, 2026. Invited guests will tour the temple on June 11 and 12, and the public is invited to attend the open house from June 13, 2026, through June 27 (excluding Sundays).

During the open house, residents of the capital of Minas Gerais, visitors and tourists will have the opportunity to see the interior of the new sacred building before its dedication, on August 16, 2026.

The architecture and interior design of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple reflect cultural elements associated with Minas Gerais, one of the Brazil’s largest states. The stained-glass windows feature shades of white, yellow and blue, inspired by the traditional patterns of Portuguese tiles present in the state’s historical heritage.

The temple is located at Rua Professor José Vieira de Mendonça, 1485, in the Engenho Nogueira neighborhood, in Belo Horizonte.

In Brazil, there are more than 1.5 million members of the Church, who meet in more than 2,000 congregations.

The construction of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple represents a milestone for Church members in Minas Gerais. The new temple is one of 385 temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including those in operation, under construction or announced.

Currently, the country has dedicated temples in cities such as Belém, Brasília, Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and São Paulo. Other temples are under construction or have been announced in different regions of Brazil, demonstrating the growth of the Church and the importance of these sacred buildings to members.

For Latter-day Saints, each temple is considered a house of the Lord and has Jesus Christ as its central focus.

Temples differ from the Church’s meetinghouses (chapels). All are welcome to attend Sunday worship services and other weekday activities at local meetinghouses. The primary purpose of temples is for faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ to participate in sacred ceremonies that allow families to be united forever.
