There are stories that, a priori, do not seem as bloody as being shot 8 times for protesting or being hanged immediately after stopping for asking for a little more freedom, or not singing the Ayatollahs’ anthem at a sporting event. However, they arrest you, beat you and sentence you to 14 years in prison, in a parody of a trial for correcting the supreme leader of Iran, simply for telling him, without words, just putting a period in a tweet (.), that he was missing a sentence. It is truly insane and gives us the moral status and superlative ego of those who, in general, direct the Iranian people from their theocratic pulpit.
The prisoner of the point His name is Hossein Shanbehzadeh, he is an Iranian writer, editor and activist known for his activity on social networks, peacefully denouncing the Iranian regime with satirical comments. But on May 2, 2024, he responded with a period (.) to a tweet from Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei (may Allah have him among his 40,000 virgins), thus correcting a missing punctuation mark. That led to his arrest, with the fallacious excuse of spy for Israel, something totally false, and that could also lead to the death penalty, something that can still happen today.
He was detained in the city of Ardabil, about 600 kilometers northwest of Tehran. And his account on the X network (formerly Twitter) was deleted shortly after the incident. His tweet, with just the dot (.), exceeded 17,000 I like it, while that of leader Khamenei barely reached 7,700, which raised public opinion’s attention even more. The regime took it as an affront to its leader and therefore the charges were trumped up and he was arrested.

That, although it was an automatic gesture, let us remember his profession as an editor, a trivial gesture, was interpreted as a public correction to the supreme leader, considered almost infallible within the official discourse. Therefore that point (.) was, for the sick mind of the Iranian regime, a direct challenge against authority. It is true that in 2023, Shanbehzadeh had already been imprisoned for, allegedly insult the supreme leader, something that could never be proven.
From that moment, the case, within organizations that defend the human rights of citizens of places like Iran, went viral. The media IrannWire and Iran International, They immediately pointed out the cause of the arrest, a simple period (.) can lead the editor to be sentenced to the death penalty.
Since then he has been in prison for two years, with no more than probable remission of the sentence. It is known that he is not cared for and that he has poor health, which even if it deteriorates could lead him to contract a fatal disease.
In Iran, arbitrariness when condemning people for any trivial reason is the order of the day. The terrorist group of poodle dogs that serves as the praetorian guard to the Ayatollahs, has authority over the life and death of those who commit, under its consideration, any type of crime against the omnipresent truth of the regime.
If the permanent death of people, especially young people, who take to the streets to ask for freedom, terrifies us, the very manipulation of justice, which these types of people permanently carry out, regarding each act that can serve as an excuse to silence any citizen, must overwhelm our souls. When freedom does not exist, and events like that of the prisoner in point (.) can occur without any type of qualms, it means that whoever applies justice in Iran is sick with EGO. And the EGO makes leaders very dangerous, it turns them into sectarians, and if they are theocratic, even more so.
Hossein Shanbehzadeh has been locked up in Iran for two years for a fucking period (.).
Go from here a few points with the sole purpose of telling the Iranian regime that it cannot act like this, but what are you going to say to a regime that shoots girls and adolescents, hangs athletes or shoots the crowd that protests asking only for freedom: ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
By the way, what does the European Union do with cases like this? Where is the UN? Who will give hope to the prisoner of the dot (.)? 14 years in prison for one point (.). Overesdrújulo.
