Interdisciplinary Think Tank on Religious Diversity and Globalisation Conference

COIMBRA, 17 November 2025, Amphitheatro III, The Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Coimbra (Portugal). The ReD Global Erasmus Mundus Joint Master “Religious Diversity in a Globalised World,” under the auspices of Centro de Estudos Clássicos e Humanísticos (CECH) launches the first Interdisciplinary Think Tank on Religious Diversity and Globalisation Conference.

The three-day conference brings together keynote speakers, diplomats, scholars of multiple disciplines, philanthropists and NGOs. Lautaro Roig Lanzillotta, ReD Global Director and Professor of Early Christian Studies at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) and Gulbenkian Visiting Professor at the CECH, will inaugurate the conference exploring diversity from antiquity to modern day.

Besides advocating for the ReD Global Project, the conference aims to open the conversation to address challenges related to religious diversity, and to establish a road map for future collaboration, in both the professional and academic spheres.

The ReD Global project works on multiple levels to bring knowledge on religion into practical solutions and efforts towards a more tolerant, diverse, and meaningful dialogue. The conference will also celebrate the launch of the ReD Global Platform — an online space that brings together collective efforts of like-minded partners to empower a future generation of scholars and active citizens.

About ReD Global:

The ReD Global Master´s Programme is a collaborative project of nine European and Latin American universities. ReD Global combines a theoretical approach to religious diversity with practical work in partnership with a network of non-academic organisations. The project addresses issues such as religious conflicts and migration. The University of Groningen (The Netherlands), together with the University of Coimbra and the University of Cordoba (Spain), lead this program, making it unique in both content and character.
