Near Northwest III Safety and Mobility Study Virtual Public Meeting #3 and Office Hours

(Washington, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will host the final of three virtual public meetings for the Near Northwest III Safety and Mobility Study. The study’s objective is to improve safety and mobility within the study area through quick-build projects. These projects are meant to be responsive to immediate needs and can also test solutions that could be built out in a future DDOT capital project.

The study proposes tactical projects at 40 locations, 10 of which will be implemented during 2021. The study will conclude in July with a series of quick-build projects and other near-term actions that may include traffic calming and intersection safety enhancements.

Public Meeting #1 was hosted February 16, 2021 and introduced the study area and project overview. Public Meeting #2 was hosted March 9, 2021 and shared the 10 intersections for immediate implementation as well as the draft 30 intersection locations.

The presentations, handouts, and recordings can be found on the project website in both English and Spanish.

This 3rd Virtual Public Meeting will:

  • Recap the first two meetings and status of the 10 immediate install projects
  • Share the final 30 intersection locations and their quick-build concepts
  • Present next steps for installation of the remaining 30 quick-build concepts
